Se ha acusado a Rolls-Royce del fracaso del RomBAC 111 en ganar nuevos pedidos por su negativa a facilitar a Rumania su nuevo motor Tay, entonces comprometido en el Fokker 100. Sin embargo sí llegó a volar tal conversión un -401AK (c/n 059) recibió dos Tay 650 y voló en el SBAC de Farnborough en 1990. Desgraciadamente no atrajo mucho interés y fué desguazado tres años después. (KR64/Nikon Coolscan V)
