Straight from a Hollywood movie. A ex-military hijacked the aircraft, after pretending to be a photographer shooting parachute jumps from inside the airplane. The aircraft took off from LPEV (Évora) to LPCS (Tires) with 2 parachuters, and right after, the hijacker diverted the aircraft using a pistol. When the aircraft was landing at Tires, the pilot managed to take the weapon from the terrorist, but he went for the controls and tried to crash the airplane. The parachuters jumped at very low altitude and the aircraft landed with the engine shut down, with a strugle between the pilot and the hijacker, skidded into a ditch breaking the left wing and left again to the grass breaking the landing gear. The pilot jumped from the aircraft as soon as it hit the ground and the hijacker committed suicide (you can see him underneath the left wing). It also seems that the hijacker's car exploded in Évora. Handheld, raining a lot, and almost dark.

Uno de los "nuevos" (ex F.A. Holandesa) Orión portugueses. Su exhibición de vuelo fué realmente memorable, demostrando que con un avión grande se puede hacer mucho mas que dar simples pasadas. Olé por el piloto.

Yo fuí a Lisboa con un claro objetivo: pillar el TAAG. Las vacaciones estaban en un segundo lugar. Y vaya si lo pillé... Lo bueno de Lisboa esque es un ciudad preciosa, lo malo esque mires donde mires ves aviones y eso hace que los locos, como yo, estemos todo el día mirando al cielo. Incluso en la playa te pasan por encima y con un -400mm los pillas bien. Eso sí es un paraíso para los spotters...
Quiero dedicar la foto a Nuno Duarte y a su hermano Luis por el fantástico día de spotting en la capital lusa. Muito obrigado!!! Lisboa, volveré!

Flying a 3 ship formation of Chipmunks from the Air Force Academy over the Sintra Mountain with most of it's landmarks in the background. Left of the frame it's the Pena National Palace, top left it's the Seteais Palace, below the second DHC-1 it's the Castle of the Moors and on top of the 1335's right wing is the Quinta da Regaleira. The best photo I could get for an air-to-air photoshoot about the 60th anniversary of the DCH-1 in the PoAF, a plane that my father also flew while he was serving.
