El 15 de Noviembre el Presidente ruso Vladimir Putin hizo escala técnica de madrugada en el Aeropuerto Tenerife Sur.de camino a Rusia tras participar en la cumbre BRICS en Brasilia. La comitiva rusa incluyó un total de cuatro ilyushin IL-96, un Tupolev TU-214 y un Dassault Falcon 7X.

En la tarde de ese día el Presidente de la República Popular China. también llegaría a Tenerife procedente de la misma cumbre con un total de dos Boeing 747-8i de Air China y un B747-400F de Air China Cargo. Un día histórico para el aeropuerto tinerfeño, sin duda.

Llegando desde las BRICS, cumbre celebrada este año en la ciudad brasileña de Brasilia, el presidente de Rusia, Vladimir Putin, y el presidente de la República Popular de China, Xi Jinping, hicieron sendas escalas en la isla de camino a sus países, permaneciendo el segundo un día en la isla para visitar el parque nacional de El Teide.
