Hola a todos,
Disculpa pero no hablo mucho Espanol. Soy un plane-spotter de Alemania.
I am writing to you because I will be in Madrid from 26 April to 1 May 2011 and I am planning on doing some plane spotting at LEMD / MAD. I have never been to Madrid and I would be really grateful for any advice and help: good locations, how to get there, best times of day, equipment needed (lenses, binoculars), security situation etc. Unfortunately I won't have a car during my visit. Do you think it will be necessary to rent one for the day?
It would also be great to get in touch with some of the local spotters. Maybe one of you has some time and is interested in meeting with me and spotting together.
I am looking forward to your input and information. Thanks a lot in advance for your efforts and your help.

Os dejo la traducción de lo que nos ha escrito Peter:
Escribo porqué estaré en Madrid del 26 de abril al 1 de mayo 2011 y estoy planificando para hacer spotting de aviones en LEMD. Nunca he estado en Madrid y estaría muy agradecido por algún consejo y ayuda: buenos sitios,como dirijírme, mejores momentos del día, el equipamiento necesario, situación de la seguridad etc. Desgraciadamente no tendré un coche durante mi estancia. Pensáis que sería necesario que alquiláse uno para mi visita? Estaría encantado de conocer a un Spotter local. Quizás uno de vosotros tiene tiempo para conocernos y hacer spotting juntos. Muchas gracias por sus esfuerzos para ayudarme.

Hi Peter.
I am not spotter so I can´t help you with the equipment needed, but perhaps this link helps you with the best locations in LEMD.

In my opinion you will need a car and more than one day to visit all places in the map because as there are four active tracks at all times it will be difficult to move easily.
I hope that the spotters in this forum can help you with the equipment.
