El Harrier fue desarrollado por Hawker Siddeley en los años 60 y fue el primer V/STOL (vertical/short takeoff and landing), es decir, podría despegar y aterrizar de forma vertical.En los años 70 fue exportado a los Estados unidos como el AV-8A para ser usado por la Marina. Aquí podemos ver a uno de los que tuvieron expuesto en el USS Intrepid.
