Es este el segundo DC.8 adquirido por el Ejército del Aire en Febrero de 1980 a la Cía. Aviaco, aunque originalmente pertyeneció a Iberia, siendo su matrícula civil EC-ATP. Fueron modificados para transporte VIP, con modernos equipos de comunicaciones de última generación. En numerosas ocasiones transportaron a larga distancia a los Reyes de España así como a los presidentes del Gobierno en sus respectivos mandatos.
